The Christmas bulb planting workshop lead by our Community Gardener, Peter, was a great success. Some of the finished creations are now hiding in our shed in the dark and we are keeping an eye on them as they blossom for Christmas. We are planning to have a few more workshops and will be sending out emails and advertising these workshops locally so keep an eye out.
In the meantime we are going to launch our Young Gardeners Club on Wednesdays. During the October school holidays the Club will run from 1.30pm to 3.00pm at the garden and from 3.30pm to 4.30pm when the school holiday ends.
The club is open to primary school aged children aged 8 years and above and will involve an introduction to gardening skills as well as lots of fun activities including arts and crafts and learning about gardening photography and blogging. We will have a Halloween pumpkin carving session on 26th of October. We will putting together a programme for the children with their help and they will be working towards certificates and rewards for their learning and hard work.
Our family sessions will also continue running on Monday afternoons from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Childminders and families are all welcome to attend this session with their children to have fun in the garden and take part in gardening tasks like watering, face-painting, tasting different produce, digging and planting. So pop in during the afternoon and get involved.
