Tayport Primary discovers joys of learning at the Garden

By 11th July 2016March 8th, 2020No Comments

Since March 2016, all the classes in Tayport Primary have visited The Community Garden with their teachers and volunteers. Pupils have used their local environment in many cross curricular activities. These have included Science experiments, seed sowing, transplanting, observing and drawing plants and caring for plants in the school plot and in the polytunnel.

You can listen to the report from one of the visits below (or follow this link).

The fun learning continues next session when PLANT and the school work in partnership to extend the learning and teaching across the seasons.

The PTA has been busy too. They kindly donated funds to enable us to build an outdoor classroom to ensure pupils can come together to share their learning with each other – and grown ups too!

Mrs Jill Ramsay from the PTA presented a cheque to Mrs Margaret Robertson PLANT Committee Member on Monday 20th June 2016 whilst Mrs Holmes, Head Teacher and Primary 2/3 looked on. We all discovered that learning can be fun outside a classroom too.
