Fife Climate Festival takes place from Saturday 21st September to Saturday 5th October 2024. Over two weeks, we’ll celebrate community climate action across the area. We also aim to imagine a world where climate action thrives and what that could mean for Fife.
We are inviting community groups and organisations across Fife to get involved by putting on events to include in the festival programme. Anyone can take part, from football clubs and scout packs to community councils. Activities could include cooking workshops, film screenings, walks, cycle rides, workshops, talks, garden tours and more. You will be able to share your events with us later this month.
The festival closes with a large gathering in Silverburn Park in Leven on Saturday 5th October. This exciting event brings everyone together to celebrate, imagine and discuss what comes next. We’ll share more details soon!
The festival is presented by Climate Action Fife and delivered with support from Fife Climate Hub. It’s funded by the National Lottery Community Fund’s Climate Action Fund.
Ea O’Neill, Climate Action Fife’s Project Manager said: “Fife Climate Festival is a fantastic opportunity to learn, share, and come together to tackle the climate emergency. We hope that lots of groups will get involved in our programme. Together, we can celebrate climate action and imagine a more sustainable future for Fife.”
This autumn’s events build on the first Fife Climate Festival, which took place this spring and was organised by Fife Climate Hub.
“We are excited to see the community come together once again to make a real difference,” said Craig Leitch, Manager of Fife Climate Hub. “Fife Climate Festival raises awareness of how we can tackle the climate emergency together and strengthens the ability of our communities to contribute to a just transition to a more sustainable Fife.”
Groups can also apply for a Community Climate Grant of up to £500 to support festival events. Applications for funding close on Sunday 16th June. In addition, you can apply for the Seed and Development Grant of up to £1,000 to grow their group. The deadline for this is January 2025.
As part of the festival, Climate Action Fife partners have launched two competitions.
There is an open creative competition for people to submit stories, art, designs and music that share a hopeful vision of Fife’s future, with the theme of ‘what could possibly go right?’
You can also share your vision for a Fife Climate Forest by creating art on a postcard. There are two separate categories, one for school children aged 5-12 and one for anyone to enter.
The winners of these competitions will be announced at our gathering, alongside a showcase of the entries.
