Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund awarded us £22,876 for Tayport Carbon Conversations to be delivered between 2018 and 2020.

Climate Challenge Fund (CCF), administered by Keep Scotland Beautiful for the Scottish Government. The Fund supports community groups taking local action on climate change, for example by growing food locally as we are doing at Tayport Community Garden. PLANT has been very fortunate to receive CCF grants of £78,000 in 2015, £42,000 in 2016 and £12,547 in 2017.
In 2016 and 2017 PLANT received funds from Fife Council Small Sparks programme to work with local children, young people and adults to design and paint our shed doors in collaboration with Dolphin Centre youth programme and to create garden mosaics.
Fife Council has financially supported the development of the Community Garden site, and the earlier Fruit Tree Walk and Café Garden projects (also see Partnerships section).
Our Grow And Learn Award programme was funded in 2016 by grants from LloydsTSB Foundation for Scotland Henry Duncan Award and from the Baily Thomas Charitable Fund.
Fruit Tree Walk was funded by Foundation Scotland and Scotmid Community Grant.
Action Earth Grants also contributed to our projects.
Donors
PLANT has been delighted to receive generous support from a number of organisations, local businesses and individuals within the community of Tayport and its surrounding area. We are grateful to the donors contributing to our projects, including:
Science in the Garden Fund
Bob MacKintosh was a well-known Tayport resident who contributed much to the life of the town. A scientist, keen gardener and Treasurer of Tayport Community Trust, Bob died suddenly in spring 2016. He will be greatly missed in Tayport by the many people who knew him for his warm and friendly approach and his practical support.
Bob’s wife Carol most generously asked that donations in his memory should come to PLANT. The magnificent sum of £4,100 has been given, including £1,100 through the Church collection, together with individual donations from family and friends across the world.
Carol has worked with PLANT to develop ideas for a project that is appropriate for Bob as a scientist, keen gardener, and a strong advocate for the local community. In 2019 it was decided that the money will contribute to erection of a polycrub to increase undercover growing and learning space.
