Tayport Primary School is working with PLANT in the Community Garden. The Green Team visits every Monday afternoon and have drawn plans for an outdoor classroom, calculated soil quantities for filling raised beds, planted wildflower seeds inside mud balls, prepared their plots, potted on tomato seedlings and transplanted broad beans and peas. The Green Team represent every stage in school and tell their classmates all about their activities. Staff are keen to extend the use of the community facility and are working towards regaining their Eco Green Flag next session.
Margaret Robertson, PLANT representative said, ‘The children are a credit to both school, community and themselves. They ask interesting questions and are always on task. Mrs McMaster, the school’s Eco-Co-Ordinator has interesting plans for all the children in school to experience learning outdoors in the local environment and all of us in PLANT are looking forward to helping her, and Tayport Primary, to achieve this.’
