CHANGE OF PLANS 17 March 2016: Unfortunately Donald is now not able to demonstrate making raised beds on Saturday, due to unforeseen circumstances.  However we will still be digging over the ground level beds – all help most welcome if you would like to come along!  We will reschedule the raised bed construction session as soon as we can.

Tayport Community Garden, Saturday 19 March 9.00 am – 1 pm.

No – not more housework but making places for growing vegetables, fruit and salads.

Join PLANT member Donald McCormick of local firm My Garden for a practical session making raised beds from larch sleepers locally sourced and supplied by James Carr and Sons (Sawmillers). We are greatful to ForgeFix for the donation of 10 boxes of heavy duty screws for this purpose. We will also be digging over ground level beds. This will create growing spaces for use of community groups and other beds for demonstration and produce.

Please come along if you fancy helping out, or just watching to see how it is done.

Appropriate equipment and help will be on hand for the heavier jobs but there are also lighter jobs involved.  You will need robust footwear and gloves.  We have a supply of gloves and some steel-toe capped boots (1 pair of each adult size) to lend if you do not have your own.

Families bringing children are responsible for their supervision during the session and must keep them well away from mechanised equipment.

As before, remember that there is no car access to the garden through Pond Lane, apart from for people with disabilities and essential deliveries (no turning at New Street).  Click here for the online map of the garden location, between Pond Lane and Sandyhill Drive.
