The annual RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch is taking place from the 28th to the 30th January. It is the world’s largest wildlife survey and it helps the RSPB to build a picture of garden wildlife across the UK. It’s an important event which increases our understanding of how climate and local environmental changes are affecting birds, insects and animals in the UK. Last year 519,000 people counted an incredible 8,262,662 birds.

On Sunday 29th January we will be joining in the Birdwatch at the Community Garden. At 1pm we will start counting the birds that arrive at our feeders and exploring the garden for other wildlife. We will have a couple of local experts on hand to help us identify what we see so please come along and join us.

Garden birds are not just for the Big Birdwatch though – Elizabeth tells us more about the everyday pleasures of caring for and watching birds in her garden near Tayport in her first blog post.
